Dear Readers,

Beginning March 26th, Main Street Books completely closed its doors in accordance with the  Mecklenburg County, NC Stay-at-Home order. Our staff are not reporting to work, but they are definitely remaining steadfast with their check-ins, especially with their current reading.

While our doors are shut and our staff is sheltering in place, what we can offer right now is an online shopping experience through our partner, Bookshop.org. When you begin your online book buying through our Bookshop page, Main Street Books receives a healthy portion of the proceeds directly. You receive a 10% discount on all of your purchases, and books ships directly to your address from our warehouse. Please consider bookmarking our Bookshop page in your favorite browser and visiting it for your reading needs.

Similarly, we have a great audiobook listening service called Libro.fm. All proceeds from Libro.fm membership and audiobooks sales go to the bookstore where you signed up – that’s us! Follow this link!

Lastly & most importantly, we’ve partnered with Circle de Luz, a non-profit in Charlotte that radically empowers young Latinas through a 6 year holistic mentoring program that concludes with a college scholarship. We’re hosting an online book drive to provide each student member of their program (their hijas!) with three books for their home libraries, but we wouldn’t want to choose randomly, so we surveyed each hijas for their reading interests and have hand-picked their book stack.

We invite you to help us with our book drive. You can purchase book bundles through our website to donate to Circle de Luz. We’ve discounted the books to stretch your dollars, and we’ll be shipping each book bundle straight to its hija recipient.

Best,
Adah

Main Street Books is proud to partner with Circle de Luz, a local non-profit whose purpose is to radically empower young Latinas. Our booksellers have created book bundles comprised of three books for each of Circle de Luz’s student members (their hijas!). These bundles are hand-selected to match the reading interests of each hija. Your donation will allow us to ship a book bundle to each hija to help build their home libraries and provide inspiring literature. Main Street Books has discounted the book prices and is offering shipping free through this program. Purchasing a book bundle for an hija supports your local indie bookstore and an incredibly impactful non-profit. Join us in fostering a love of reading among young women in our community.
