Outdoor Activities in Davidson
Mecklenburg County and Town parks are open if you are not sick! However, access to the parks is limited to pedestrians and cyclists. Greenways remain open. All active recreation features remain closed including basketball courts, playgrounds, and tennis courts. In addition, Town of Davidson bathroom facilities at the parks and greenways are also closed. Remember to always keep six feet of “social distance” between you and other park or greenway visitors as you walk, run, or ride a bike! Stay safe, Davidson!

Speaker: Sunny Yudkoff, Moderator: Ilana McQuinn
Dr. Sunny Yudkoff is an Assistant Professor of German in the Department of German, Nordic, and Slavic Studies as well as the Mosse/Weinstein Center for Jewish Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She earned her Ph.D. in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at Harvard. Her research focuses on Jewish literary production from the mid-nineteenth to twenty-first centuries. In her book Tubercular Capital: Illness and the Conditions of Modern Jewish Writing (Stanford University Press, 2019), Yudkoff tells the story of Yiddish and Hebrew writers whose lives were transformed by the disease. Suffering writers fashioned literary personas, grew their reputations, and found financial backing. Through an analysis of their stories, Yudkoff invites readers to reconsider the foundational relationship among disease, biography, and literature. Watch the livestream.
