Memorial Day Weekend in Davidson

Davidson Farmers’ Market (DFM) Give $10 Save 40 campaign – DFM recently launched our Give $10 Save 40 campaign with a goal to raise $25,000 in order to reopen the market with new equipment, sanitizer stations, cover the cost for our 40 vendors to participate, and hire additional staff for our new market procedures and programs. You can read more about the Give $10 campaign here. In less than 24 hours DFM reached the halfway point of their goal. Their hope is to reach the goal by Memorial Day and then get to work reopening!

E2D Virtual Lemonade Stand – Update – Please support Davidson’s own Eliminate the Digital Divide (E2D) – the amazing nonprofit that is doing even more amazing work for students & families in need – when distance learning is the ONLY learning. As of Wednesday (May 20) E2D had raised $5847 of their $7500 goal. If you’d like to make a donation, please grab a “virtual cup of lemonade” by one of these ways:  Mail your donation to P.O. Box 1299 Davidson, NC 28036 or go to our Paypal site at www.e-2-d.org/donate. If you’re really in a hurry, text GIVE2E2D to 44321

Free Art Classes – The Museum of Modern Art is offering several free courses via Coursera. We recommend starting with What is Contemporary Art? Click here to read an article about the program.

Yinka Shonibare Talk – Click here view a conversation between Yinka Shonibare CBE and Davidson College’s President, Carol Quillen. The talk took place on campus in 2018 in conjunction with our exhibition The American Library, as well as our acquisition of Wind Sculpture (SG) I, a gift of Patricia A. Rodgers in memory of her husband B.D. Rodgers Jr.

WDAV Rodin Favorites – Earlier this year, Davidson’s Classical Public Radio posted an interesting series of interpretations based on our recent exhibition, Auguste Rodin: Truth Form Life. Several hosts and directors at WDAV chose pieces of classical music that best fit their personal interpretation of each sculpture, leading to an interesting crossroads of artistic and musical achievements.
