Davidson Community Players: Calling all Playwrights to Submit Their Plays for Boos and Brews!
After a successful first run in October 2017, followed by eve greater successes in 2018 and 2019, Davidson Community Players is embarking on its 4th annual Boos & Brews short play festival. This event will take place at the DCP Actor’s Lab in Cornelius in a black box theatre setting. We would like to invite you to submit a play for our consideration.
Here are the details:
- Your play is to be approximately 10 minutes in length.
- The theme is to be Halloween / Ghost/Spirit-oriented (comedy or drama). Virus related topics are acceptable as long as in good taste and funny!
- It should contain no more than five characters.
- Your set is to be minimalistic, i.e. no refrigerators or heavy objects.
- Ditto for costumes, props and make-up.
Your submission should include a “cover page” that contains the title, your name, email address, and phone number. All subsequent pages must have the title ONLY along with the page number. Prior to giving your submission to the play selection committee, the cover page will be removed so that members will not know who wrote what. Playwrights whose work is chosen for performance will be notified by September 1, 2020.

The selection committee members will choose the top six or seven to be performed live at the festival. Playwrights whose work is selected will receive two complimentary tickets to one of the four performances Oct. 21st-24th, 2020. .
New this year: Selection Committee Award-The winner of this award will be chosen by the members of the play selection committee. The winner may or may not be the same as the Patron’s Choice Award. The winner will receive $100.00
Patron’s Choice Awards! At each performance every audience member will be given a list of the shows on a notecard. They will be instructed to circle their favorite and drop the form into a box. The top vote getter will be awarded $100 and $50 will go to second place.
