July 4th – A Word of Caution
As residents are likely already aware, the Town made the decision to cancel traditional 4th of July activities due to COVID. That includes the kids’ bicycle parade and all events on the Town Green.
Several days ago, residents of Davidson became aware of social media posts regarding a motorcycle rally in support of the president. Specifically, the rally is slated to start in Davidson with motorcyclists asked to come to town, form up between 11 a.m. and noon, and then ride up Main Street (N.C. 115) to Mooresville.
Subsequently, a group of Davidson residents took to social media to call for a mask-wearing, socially-distanced response to the motorcycle rally. Their effort specifically notes the importance of no confrontation with the rally participants. Instead, this group intends to take up peaceful positions on N. Main Street shortly before noon, in order to be visible as the riders leave town.
If you plan on being in downtown Davidson on Saturday, please be aware of these activities.
The News of Davidson team asks our readers to please be safe, wear your masks, and maintain a social distance while you celebrate the Fourth of July.
