This Week at The Davidson Farmers Market – August 1

by | Jul 30, 2020 | Davidson Farmers Market, News, Nonprofits

Herrs Flowers recently featured sunflower bouquets.

Hello DFM Shoppers,

At the Davidson Farmers Market we strive to provide a diverse variety of produce and products from a number of vendors to offer you, our shoppers, the best selections within a 100 mile radius of Davidson. We also try and make sure that our vendors offer items different from one another to support their businesses but also complement one another, making the market a true “one-stop shop.”

This week is a prime example of these efforts.

Pantry Staples:

Find a variety of tomatoes from Twin Oaks and over at  Coldwater Creek  you can find carrots, celery, and garlic (plus whole wheat flour and grits), plus fresh herbs from Two Pigs Farm.

Proteins:

Be adventurous this week and grab lamb from Gilcrest Natural Farm, pork and beef from Big Oak, and eggs from Barbee Farms.

Snacks:

Indulge in snacks between your weekly meals with salsa or guacamole from Toro Loco, goat cheese and crackers from Blue Goat Dairy, kettle corn from Hercules, pimento cheese from Kathryn’s Cottage, and a variety of kombucha from Updog.

Fruits & Vegetables:

You can get your week’s worth of vegetables from a number of vendors including potatoes, peas, and peppers from Barbee Farms, plus fresh fruit from Peaches N’ Cream to eat whole or for baking.

Finishing Touches:

Micro greens from Fair Share, honey from Renn Bee Farm, and pasta sauces from Cannizzaro Sauces.

Pastries & Bread:

Grab a fresh loaf from Heritage Harvest, breakfast pastries from Butter Crust Bakery, and donuts and scones from Your Mom’s Donuts.

Decor:

Spruce up your home with fresh flowers from Herr Fresh Flowers and Raceway Berry Farm.

Wellness & Beauty:

Find respite with several soothing soaps, butters, and bath bombs from Essential Soaps, Mood Indigo, and Lavender Garden. Plus, wellness honey and extracts from Heritage Harvest.

And if you get hungry while you shop:

Grab a breakfast burrito from Bleu Barn Bistro, a donut (or two) from Your Mom’s Donuts, and a cup of Kombucha from draft at Updog.

This is just a SAMPLING of what there is this week at the market, there is so much more.

I love seeing our shoppers every week get excited, from the new shoppers discovering new varieties of produce to our regular shoppers finding something new they hadn’t found at the market the week before. It’s always new and interesting at DFM.

So this week, plan a few extra minutes to really take your time to visit each vendor and discover what they have. And if you didn’t purchase that one item you really wanted but needed to think about it, we have u-turn spots for you to turnaround and make that purchase without having to re-enter the market.

It has been a great month being reopened and seeing everyone and look forward to continuing to offer our shoppers and vendors the best market experience possible.

Happy eating,

Justin
