This is our second edition of a modified “Ready, Set. . . Social Distancing in Davidson.” While we are still in Phase 2 of re-opening – we wanted to try to make this article more user-friendly for our readers. We will try to find and document online/virtual events and list them here in upcoming weeks. The other items that we had been including in previous editions have been broken out into individual articles: “Art in Your Inbox,” “Virtual Vacations,” and a dedicated article “This Week at the Davidson Farmers Market.”

Back to School Backpacks – Drive Through Event

Gethsemane Baptist Church – 565 Jetton Street

Gethsemane Baptist Church invites you to participate in its annual Back2SchoolBreakout which, due to COVID-19 restrictions, will be held as a drive-thru event on Saturday, August 1, 2020.

The church already has 450 students registered to receive a bookbag filled with supplies so it is inviting the community to help with: donations of more bookbags, school supplies, and gift cards ($50 Walmart, Target, Visa/MC, Shoe Carnival, or other shoe stores suggested). You can make a donation via Paypal ([email protected]), Givelify (Gethsemane Baptist Church of Lake Norman), check (made payable to Gethsemane Baptist Church of LKN) or in-person cash or debit card swipe (note: B2SB in memo). Gethsemane Baptist Church thanks the community in advance for all its support!

Story Explorers (Virtual)

Explore books and stories in creative ways through interactive activities including math, science, games, and more! We will read about plant life cycles and make Seed Bombs you can plant in your garden!
