This Week at the Davidson Farmers Market: August 15

by | Aug 13, 2020 | Davidson Farmers Market, News, Nonprofits

The only visible faces in view at the Farmers’ Market were those of children.

Hello DFM Shoppers,

August is a great month at the market because we start to see produce changing and the transition from summer to fall is always a fun time. Unfortunately, with August comes end of summer thunderstorms that like to be unpredictable. This Saturday, there is expected rain with potential thunderstorms. DFM has always been a rain or shine market and will continue this policy.

But, with our new COVID procedures and new layout we feel it is important to explain when DFM will close due to inclement weather and how we plan to communicate to our shoppers.

The market will close due to weather if:

  • There is a state of emergency;
  • Experiencing consistent severe high winds;
  • Lightning is present; or,
  • Flood like rains.

We will always do our best to keep the market open. But if we need to close the market due to weather, we will communicate via email, social media, and website

Now, with all that said. This Saturday does look like rain, but nothing severe. Please come prepared for rain with umbrellas and raincoats. If you want to skip shopping in-person because of the weather, take advantage of pre-order and simply come to the market tent on Saturday to pick-up your order(s). Vendors offering pre-orders are identified with *PO next to their name in the weekly offerings section of the newsletter.

Happy eating,
Justin

If you choose pre-order and do not plan to shop in-person, you can skip the line,  and pick up your pre-order from the Market Tent (the red tent to the right of the Market entrance). Just give your name and who you pre-ordered from and our DFM volunteers will get your order for you.
