Friday

Give Back Friday @ Summit Coffee Co.

Aug 14 @ All Day

This Give Back Friday we are donating a portion of sales to The Okra Project (@theokraproject).

They are a collective that seeks to address the global crisis faced by Black Trans people by bringing home cooked, healthy, and culturally specific meals and resources to Black Trans People wherever they can reach them.

Based on individual donations, The Okra Project pays Black Trans chefs to go into the homes of Black Trans people to cook them a healthy and home-cooked meal at absolutely no cost to their Black TGNC siblings. For those Black Trans folks currently experiencing homeless or whose homes cannot support our chef’s cooking, The Okra Project has partnered with institutions like Osborne Association and other community spaces to deliver foods.

They also have the Okra Academy. It is a weekend training program taught by our chefs where Black Trans people can learn kitchen basics and recipes to enrich their own culinary lives, as well as prepare them to possibly work as chefs themselves.

If you have the means, please consider donating as well.
