Virtual Fundraising Breakfast for DCCDC

by | Sep 17, 2020 | Davidson Cornelius Child Development Center, News, Nonprofits

Davidson Cornelius Child Development Center needs your help.

As you know, the Davidson Cornelius Child Development Center has held a fundraising breakfast in years past for folks to learn about the Center and the families we serve. Obviously, an in-person event is not possible this year, so we have gone “virtual.” Even though we’re not sharing quiche and cantaloupe this morning, we want to share this information and fundraising request with you.

This year, the pandemic has had an outsized effect on many of our most vulnerable Center families; our hope is to continue to make child care accessible so that the adults in these families can keep their jobs and pay their bills while their children continue to receive high-quality care each day.

This year we need to raise $125,000. It costs $12,000 per year to fund a scholarship and we have many new families in dire need. We must also accelerate our playground renovations to allow our students as much outdoor time as possible in light of growing COVID safety data. The pandemic has upended our community, and families are turning to us for help. We need friends like you now, more than ever.

Click here to watch a short video about our center (It’s a pretty great video!) and consider our request to donate to the Center.

You can change a child’s life.

DONATE TODAY

Children who go to full-day preschool are less likely to be arrested, more likely to graduate, and are less likely to struggle with substance abuse as adults. (study) Your donation is an investment in our community’s future and in the families who call it home. Supporting early childhood education is one of the most effective ways to impact a child’s life positively.

Learn More about the Davidson Cornelius Child Development Center

Since 1969, our mission at DCCDC is to provide high-quality, affordable early education and care for any child of our community without regard to race, ethnicity, religion, or socioeconomic status and to embrace and foster diversity in a safe learning environment.

We are the only Center in the North Mecklenburg area that offers 5-star, full-time, affordable early education and childcare with scholarship support for children ages six weeks to Pre-K. Additionally, DCCDC employs the highest-quality teachers exceeding the minimum education and experience criteria set forth by NCDHHS. We strongly believe that high-quality teachers and staff are the keys to an exceptional early education.

At DCCDC, we know from 51 years of providing early education that the path to equal opportunity starts in preschool. Because of generous supporters like you, 30-50% of our children receive sliding-scale scholarship support, ranging from 35‒85% of the total tuition cost. Early in life, access to quality education has a tremendous impact on young lives and breaks the poverty cycle for families in need.

Extensive research demonstrates the enormous loss of human potential when we don’t invest in children in the early years, particularly those at risk for academic, social, and economic failure. Without successful intervention, many children by age 5 are in danger of falling behind other children in their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. Every additional child we reach now through our early childhood education program is an investment in our community’s future. Thank you for investing in our community.

We are looking forward to when we can all get together. In the meantime, we hope you’ll contribute to the healthy development and bright futures of our local families. Thank you for being part of something so necessary for equity and progress.
