This Week at DFM – September 26

by | Sep 24, 2020 | Davidson Farmers Market, Local, News, Nonprofits

Davidson Farmers Market is going strong – with appropriate COVID-19 protections in place.

Hello DFM Shoppers,

I love fall, always have! Yet the anticipation for fall this year was like no other –– I just needed something positive to look forward to. With everything happening in the world today, it is challenging to maintain a positive attitude. We forget to give others grace while we face our own uphill battles to make things work during these trying times. We are all dealing with change and we’re all searching for something positive to hang on to.

Thats why fall this year was so important to me. I knew the dip in temperature, the changing of leaves, and the simple essence of knowing the holidays are just around the corner would give me a sense of normalcy and a boost of positivity. At the market, fall is a special time of year. The weather is lovely, the produce is remarkable and vibrant, and the simple act of walking around a farmers market with a light flannel shirt on in the morning and grabbing a pumpkin beer afterwards is a simple pleasure that clears my mind. More than ever, this is needed.

Yes, things are different. Yes, even our simple pleasures are slightly altered. But, knowing we’re all going through the same challenges and that we’re all clinging on to something to help us get through these difficult times –– I know as simple as it sounds –– a walk through the farmers market on a cool autumn morning might be the easiest thing for us to do to give our minds a break.

This week, enjoy the market. Shop at a new vendor, buy some fall flowers, or grab a seasonal baked good and enjoy outside with a beverage from Summit. If DFM can do one thing during these times, its to provide a space for shoppers and vendors to come and enjoy something familiar during an unfamiliar time.

Happy eating,

Justin
