This Week at DFM: October 3

Hello DFM Shoppers,
Saturday is going to be a beautiful Market day with sunny blue skies and crisp fall air. Bring your totes, baskets, wagons, and bags and join us between 9 am and Noon, behind Summit Coffee, Main Street.
As you enter the Market, take time to visit each vendor tent. Stop to appreciate and admire the goods that they have brought to Market and set out for you. Many vendors are up as early as 4 am to pack, load and put last minute, finishing touches on their products before they head to the Market.
They are passionate and proud of their local goods – hand cut flowers; perfectly wrapped cakes and pies; fresh picked produce, washed and clean; intentionally packaged soaps and scrubs; hot and delicious burritos and sandwiches; seasonal kombucha; NC seafood; warm donuts; creamy and unique goat cheese; all natural honey; chicken, pork, beef; and so much more.
Try something new. Ask your farmer or producer how they would cook their meats and veggies (they have lots of great ideas). Learn from them. Thank them. And, enjoy the local and fresh deliciousness that they have brought to us.

Happy October, y’all! Don’t miss these items available at market this week: Barbee Farms has red leaf, green leaf, and romaine lettuce; DFM Apple Sale has Cameo, Jonagold, and Gala apples; and Gilcrest Natural Farm has their annual chicken back sale – 1/2 price! PLUS, How Sweet It Is starts Halloween cookie pre-orders this week.

If you choose pre-order and do not plan to shop in-person, you can skip the line and pick up your pre-order from the Market Tent (the red tent to the right of the Market entrance). Just give your name and who you pre-ordered from and our DFM volunteers will get your order for you.
PRODUCE
Barbee Farms – A variety of fresh produce
Available this week: Lettuce is back! We have started harvesting heads of green leaf, red leaf, and romaine lettuce. Let’s think fall with green kale, Swiss Chard, sweet potatoes, white potatoes, butternut, acorn, spaghetti squash and shelled peas. We will also have sweet corn, green beans, tomatoes (heirloom and red), cucumbers, and the last of our watermelons. There will be many varieties of peppers including sweet bells, sweet banana, poblano, and jalapeno. Don’t forget to pick up some farm fresh eggs!
To Know: At our Davidson Market vending site, customers will be able to choose their own produce after proper hand sanitization. We will not be offering online ordering this weekend for Davidson market pick up but will have staff available to assist you with your shopping if requested.
