Davidson Town Attorney and Affordable Housing Manager Cindy Reid recently announced she would be stepping away from both roles with the Town of Davidson. Reid assumed the role of town attorney four years ago – stepping up from her role as staff attorney. In addition to advising the Davidson Board of Commissioners and town staff on all legal matters, including details of town ordinances and code, as town attorney Reid oversaw the down payment assistance program that provides eligible residents with monetary assistance in purchasing a home in the Town of Davidson. Town Manager Jamie Justice comments, “Cindy’s guidance and direction has been invaluable to all departments here in town. She’s offered support related to complex planning issues, helped advise public safety on a variety of subjects, and served as a trusted member of the town’s management team. Cindy’s extensive legal expertise, passionate support for affordable housing, and sincere commitment to the Town of Davidson will be greatly missed.”

In addition to her responsibilities as Town Attorney, Reid managed the affordable housing program during her 14 years of service. She helped Davidson become a leader in affordable housing as the town is one of only three communities in the state with an inclusionary zoning program. In her position as Affordable Housing Manager, she has worked with developers and builders to further the towns’ affordable housing efforts. She has also worked closely with nonprofits in our area and one-on-one with individual town residents to support housing needs in our community.

Town of Davidson Mayor Rusty Knox notes, “Cindy Reid is a tireless advocate for affordable housing in our community and a sharp legal mind. Her hard work over the last 14 years has made a real impact, and it will be very tough to fill her shoes.”  Reid plans to leave Davidson at the end of the month.
