Hello DFM Shoppers,

We talk about the importance of our DFM volunteers, the Green Team, often –– without them the market wouldn’t be possible. Volunteers have been an integral part of DFM’s operations since established in 2008. We have had many wonderful volunteers throughout the years, and we have been fortunate to have a few become dedicated volunteers helping almost every Saturday. One of those dedicated and loyal volunteers is Becky Hubbell.

Becky has been volunteering with DFM since the start, or close to it. Volunteering every Saturday she possibly can, Becky stays the entire day, from set-up to take-down. And while she’s at the Market she’s talking to and helping EVERYONE, and I mean everyone! We are confident that Becky could run the Market just fine without us.

On my first few Saturdays solo as the new Market Manager, Becky was there by my side. She welcomed me with open arms and guided me, stepped in to take care of my newborn when he was with me, and gave me support in and out of the market. Becky is a wonderful human and is an asset to DFM. Courtney has worked with Becky for many years and has given her the nickname Becky Awesome –– because she is awesome!

This Saturday is Becky’s last volunteer day, she is moving to Upstate New York to retire. We are all so excited for her and this new chapter in her life, but selfishly we’re sad to see her go. Her presence, support, and seeing her scurry around the market with farmers market bags filled to the brim with market goodies will be missed.

If you see Becky this Saturday, take the time to thank her. She will be with me at the DFM Apple Sale tent one last time. We love Becky Awesome and will miss her so very much! This is why we love our volunteers. They are part of the team –– becoming friends, woven into the fabric that is DFM.

Barbee Farms – A variety of fresh produce

Available this week:​ ​New this weekend: broccoli, spinach and cabbage! ​Lots of fall greens!​ We will have all types of lettuce (green leaf, red leaf, and romaine), green kale, red kale, Tuscan kale, collards, bok choy, Swiss Chard and beets for the early risers. To round out the fall offerings will be sweet

potatoes, white potatoes, butternut, spaghetti squash and shelled peas. Don’t forget about those summer favorites that are still around: sweet corn, green beans, tomatoes (heirloom, red and Roma), squash, zucchini, and cucumbers! There will be many varieties of peppers including sweet bells, sweet banana, poblano, and jalapeno. Don’t forget to pick up some farm fresh eggs!
