Woodlawn School, an independent K-12 school noted for project-based learning and academic excellence, has named Alexis Hornbuckle as its Girls Basketball Coach. “Alexis is an inspirational leader and great role model for every Woodlawn student. She excelled as a scholar-athlete, team leader, and she is a champion, on and off the court,” said Paul Zanowski, Head of School for Woodlawn. “At Woodlawn, academic excellence and values-driven athletic programs are key components of an education that builds life skills and educates the whole child. Alexis understands and embraces this,” added Zanowski.

“I am really excited about the opportunities to build a great program here at Woodlawn School and the work we will do with student-athletes to build success and confidence,” said Hornbuckle.  “I was fortunate to have tremendous coaches in my high school and college years, and I want to share some of the lessons I learned.”

Alexis has dedicated her life to playing basketball and, as a recently retired professional athlete, her focus has shifted to coaching and teaching young women. In addition to her work at Woodlawn School, Alexis is also a certified personal trainer, podcast host, mentor, social activist, and entrepreneur. She is the founder of Alexis Hornbuckle Basketball: a player development platform where players are taught the fundamentals of life and basketball, as well as group and individual prep for college and the pros. She is a franchisee of Youth Hoops Basketball Camps:, a year round basketball camp that hits everything on offense and defense for children ages 6-14 years old.
