Organ at Davidson Season Continues on November 9
Organ at Davidson continues its 2020-2021 season on November 9 at 7:30 p.m. at Davidson College Presbyterian Church, 100 N. Main St. in Davidson.
Cory Westby is the director of music and organist at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Hickory, North Carolina, where oversees the music ministry and plays the two-manual Flentrop tracker organ (1986). He received a bachelor’s degree in sacred music and organ from Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, where he studied with Paul Weber and Florence Jowers, and a Master of Sacred Music degree from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, a student of Eric Nelson.
In addition to his work at Ascension, he is also the Cantor at Lenoir-Rhyne’s Grace Chapel, playing the two-manual CB Fisk organ (2014 – Op. 144) for University worship services and special events and directing the Chapel Choir. He also directs the Lenoir-Rhyne Youth Chorus, a 60-voice auditioned choral program of young singers in grades 3-12. Cory lives in Newton, North Carolina with his wife, Jessica, a K-8 music teacher, and their children. T
