Davidson’s Virtual Veterans Day Program

by | Nov 10, 2020 | Local, News, Town Information

The photo really captured Veterans Day 2019. Things will be different this year, but please attend if you can.

The Town of Davidson invites all community members to join us online Wednesday, November 11 at 11:00 a.m. to commemorate Veterans Day.

For the safety of our veterans and community, we will not be gathering in person, but instead, we will continue to make the best of these unique circumstances by creating a Virtual Veterans Day video that we will post on our website and to our social media sites on November 11 at 11:00 a.m. in honor of Veterans Day. The program will feature a special presentation by Continuing the Mission, a non-profit organization that provides fully trained assistance dogs to veterans. The event will also include special interviews with veterans, participation by local organizations, and more.

Veterans Day was originally known as Armistice Day, which marked the end of World War I in 1918. The armistice that ceased the fighting was signed on the 11th day of the 11th month at 11:00 a.m. The tradition of having a ceremony on that date and at that time has endured. Armistice Day eventually evolved into Veterans Day which honors veterans of all wars.
