Police want to make residents aware that recently, Davidson and surrounding communities have experienced increased theft from homes and vehicles.

Many of these crimes are preventable if we establish a daily routine of locking our homes, vehicles, and sheds. Especially during the holiday season, thieves are targeting unlocked vehicles and removing valuables left inside. Please remember to lock your vehicles, don’t leave items in plain view, and remove keys, firearms, wallets, purses, and money.

Officers are increasing their patrols of neighborhoods, but we request that anyone who observes suspicious activity, please call 911 immediately.

If you plan to travel during the holidays, we recommend not posting your plans on social media or displaying pictures from your trip until after your return. Also, if you’d like the police department to conduct a security check of your home, you can fill out the form online at https://www.ci.davidson.nc.us/…/Home-Security-Check-54. Officers will conduct a check of the exterior of the home twice a day until you return.
