Town Supports “Small Business Saturday” on Saturday, November 28

by | Nov 20, 2020 | Local Businesses, News, Town Information

Please support our local businesses!

The Town of Davidson is pleased to announce its support for “Small Business Saturday” on Saturday, November 28 this year. We encourage Davidson citizens and visitors to kick-off the holiday shopping season by buying locally in all of our retail establishments.

We realize that many people may be able to get out to do their holiday shopping this year. Instead, please consider supporting local Davidson businesses by purchasing a gift card. The Town of Davidson has launched a Virtual Marketplace www.christmasindavidson.com/marketplace where all of our businesses are listed with direct links to purchase gift cards. You can do all of your holiday shopping in one place.

“Supporting local businesses is even more important this year,” said Economic Development Manager Kim Fleming. “So many Davidson businesses support the community by hiring local workers, donating to our non-profit organizations, and sponsoring events. Let’s return the favor and support them on Small Business Saturday and throughout the holiday shopping season.”

Our core values state that “Davidson’s economic health is essential to its remaining a sustainable community, so town government will judiciously encourage new business opportunities.” The town’s economic development department focuses on business retention, and these events will familiarize participants with our local businesses in time for the holiday shopping season.

American Express launched Small Business Saturday in 2010 in an effort to support local places that make our communities strong. Small Business Saturday encourages holiday shoppers to patronize brick and mortar businesses that are small and local.
