12 Days of Christmas in Davidson

by | Nov 20, 2020 | Bottom Middle Box, Local, Local Businesses, News, Town Information

The 12 Days of Christmas in Davidson will be different this year – with the focus on complying with necessary COVID precautions.

The Town of Davidson, in a return to the origins of its annual Christmas in Davidson event which highlighted local businesses, will host the 12 Days of Christmas from December 1-12, 2020. Residents are invited to come out and support local businesses as an act of both holiday celebration and solidarity, especially as COVID-19 and statewide restrictions continue to impact how we shop and support the local economy.

“This year it is more important than ever to support our local businesses who have done so much for the Davidson community. If you are able, please patronize these wonderful businesses or purchase a gift card through our virtual marketplace,” said Economic Development Manager, Kim Fleming.

In the spirit of the holidays, there will be numerous opportunities to enjoy a town-wide festive environment with roving activities and opportunities to “shop local,” both virtually and in person. Please visit www.christmasindavidson.com/marketplace to view the Virtual Marketplace where you can purchase gift cards from all of Davidson’s amazing businesses.

This year’s schedule.

During the 12 Days of Christmas, residents can look forward to:

  • The Rotary Giving Tree Village on the entire town green,
  • Roving entertainment in all three commercial districts (Downtown, South Main, and the Circles @ 30) between the hours of 12:00-2:00 p.m. and 5:00-7:00 p.m.,
  • A daily social media challenge,
  • Holiday music throughout town,
  • Luminaries lining commercial areas,
  • A virtual marketplace,
  • Drive in Christmas movies,
  • The annual Doggie Fashion Show and Ugly Sweater Contest,
  • And more!

The town is excitedly anticipating this event, but does caution residents and visitors to be observant of all COVID-19 guidelines, especially the 3 Ws- wear a mask, wait 6 feet apart, and wash your hands frequently.   Additional event COVID-19 guidelines can be found here.

“We are choosing to be our best as we round out 2020,” said Ben & Jerry’s owner Karen Toney.   “Christmas in Davidson getting back to its roots, lasting twelve days with fabulous new daytime activities, and we’re still having the Doggie Fashion Show! Who doesn’t enjoy that?!”
