Hello DFM Shoppers,

Happy December! I absolutely love the holidays, and Courtney and I are excited to bring holiday cheer to the market the next three Saturdays. On Saturday, 12/12, will be our ugly holiday sweater market –– more details on that later, but we’re extremely excited!

This week we have two fun announcements and ways to help support DFM and spread holiday cheer at the same time. Though Christmas in Davidson is slightly different this year, we’re thrilled to see the Giving Tree Village continue. Coordinated by Rotary Club of Davidson, the event is a unique and festive fundraising village highlighting non-profits & local businesses in the community. DFM participates every year, and last year was our biggest year of funds received from our generous supporters.

You can support DFM’s tree by voting with tickets, this year sold in $5 increments. Every dollar is a vote and DFM receives 100% of the funds. You can vote for DFM’s tree here, and learn more about the Giving Tree Village and view the other trees. Voting is between Dec. 1 – Dec. 12.

Another fun way to support DFM is by purchasing a DFM holiday ornament. This year, local artist Kristen Feighery, hand painted an ornament that captures the spirit of DFM since 2008. The ornament is printed on canvas with a wooden frame. We are opening pre-orders for the ornaments this week and will be available for pick-up only on Saturday 12/12 & 12/19. The ornaments will also be available for purchase at market 12/12 & 12/19 while supplies last –– limited quantity of 40 ornaments this year. If you choose pre-order and do not plan to shop in-person, you can skip the line  and pick up your pre-order from the Market Tent (the red tent to the right of the Market entrance). Just give your name and who you pre-ordered from and our DFM volunteers will get your order for you.

Barbee Farms – A variety of fresh produce

Available this week:​ Don’t miss out on the last of the cauliflower, and for a special treat, try some of our cucumbers and grape tomatoes from the warmth of our greenhouse! Many of your fall favorites will be on hand: brussel sprouts, carrots, broccoli, lettuce, spinach, green onions, kale, cabbage, spinach, collards, bok choy, Swiss Chard, and beets. To round out the fall offerings will be sweet potatoes, white potatoes, and butternut. Don’t forget to pick up some farm fresh eggs!

To Know:​ ​At our Davidson Market vending site, customers will be able to choose their own produce after proper hand sanitization.​ We will not be offering online ordering this weekend for Davidson market pick up but will have staff available to assist you with your shopping if requested.
