This Week at Davidson Farmers Market: December 12

Hello DFM Shoppers,
Happy holidays! I hope everyone is finding ways to enjoy the holidays this year, either with family traditions or finding new ways to celebrate. This is the first year that DFM has made the markets in December holiday focused –– still providing the same delicious locally grown and made products, but now with more emphasis on the holidays. We are encouraging our vendors to provide more bundles and gift box sets, offer pre-orders for specialty cuts of meat, and provide holiday items for your holiday feasts. More importantly, we’re showing our holiday spirit at the market.
This Saturday, we’re hosting DFM’s first Ugly Holiday Sweater day. Vendors, staff, and volunteers will all sport our ugliest holiday sweater for a spirit filled market. We encourage our shoppers to join the fun, too. And, because its 2020, holiday masks count!
At the market this week, keep an eye out for specialty holiday treats and packages. Lots of our vendors have new items perfect for the holidays, whether a gift, centerpiece, or produce. DFM is back with apples! This week we will have winecrisp apples, a hybrid of winesap and honeycrisp. Plus, we will have our holiday ornaments and DFM merchandise for sell (hats, t-shirts, and farmers market totes). Visit me at the DFM tent near the exist.
Reminder, there are still a few days left to vote and support DFM and our Christmas tree at the Giving Tree Village, coordinated by Rotary Club of Davidson. You can support DFM’s tree by voting with tickets, this year sold in $5 increments. Every dollar is a vote and DFM receives 100% of the funds. You can vote for DFM’s tree here, and learn more about the Giving Tree Village and view the other trees. Last day of voting is Dec. 11 9 P.M.
There are still a few DFM holiday ornaments left (20) for pre-order. To place an order, please scroll down the newsletter for more information. If you purchased an ornament, I will be contacting you today and tomorrow to schedule your pick-up day on either the 12th or 19th.

If you choose pre-order and do not plan to shop in-person, you can skip the line and pick up your pre-order from the Market Tent (the red tent to the right of the Market entrance). Just give your name and who you pre-ordered from and our DFM volunteers will get your order for you.
PRODUCE
Barbee Farms – A variety of fresh produce
Available this week: Don’t miss out on greenhouse cucumbers and grape tomatoes. Also, many of your fall favorites will be on hand: brussel sprouts, carrots, broccoli, lettuce, spinach, green onions, kale, cabbage, spinach, collards, Swiss Chard, and beets. To round out the fall offerings will be sweet potatoes, white potatoes, and butternut. Don’t forget to pick up some farm fresh eggs!
To Know: At our Davidson Market vending site, customers will be able to choose their own produce after proper hand sanitization. We will not be offering online ordering this weekend for Davidson market pick up but will have staff available to assist you with your shopping if requested.
