Editors’ Choice: All Good Stories…
Most of the way through a strange and difficult year, the experts predict that we’ll need to hang on to our safe habits well into 2021. But hope is rising, along with the holiday spirit we can’t help but muster.
What’s gotten you through so far? Knowing this community, many of you will say, “Reading!”
Introducing her historical novel, Wolf Hall, Hilary Mantel said, “Some of these things are true and some of them lies. But they are all good stories.”
This story is both good and true: Our town of avid readers boasts 32-plus Book Clubs—by one count, more clubs per capita than any town in the whole wide world. While that cool ratio may be apocryphal, now that club members are gathering by Zoom rather than in a neighbor’s living room, we bet that number continues to grow.
This week, our co-editor and loyal member of the Tuesday Club, Margo Williams, reaches back to Fall 2017 for our story about the 21st Annual Gathering of the Book Clubs of Davidson—for your reading pleasure.
Since News of Davidson went live in September 2017, we have posted north of 2,000 stories and column contributions, and literally uncountable calendar events. Our stories celebrate neighbors, promote local nonprofits, events, and businesses, and share hundreds of community images.
To celebrate those three years of community news, Editors’ Choice hopes to remind you why News of Davidson matters and hopes you will support our all-volunteer team in the work we love to do.
Stay safe and Happy Holidays!
