This Week at DFM: December 19

by | Dec 17, 2020 | Davidson Farmers Market, Local, News, Nonprofits

So many sweet reasons to head over to the last DFM of the year.

Hello DFM Shoppers,

Wow, I can’t believe this Saturday is DFM’s last market of 2020. We all know how challenging this year has been, and seeing the market come together and thrive has been a bright spot for so many in this rather unusual year. I cannot thank everyone enough for their hard work, dedication, and support –– this community is strong!

If I was asked to describe the DFM community, I would say it is caring and generous. I have seen examples of this throughout 2020 at DFM –– strangers stopping and helping staff setup or breakdown the market, shoppers generously supporting DFM, a 60 percent increase in market attendance, vendors graciously thanking volunteers, Board members supporting staff, and vendors returning their success back to the community that supports them. It’s truly remarkable and beautiful to witness DFM be more than just a farmers market.

This weekend, to close out our 2020 year, DFM is supporting Barbee Farms’ generosity to support a local nonprofit. Barbee Farms will donate 25 percent of total sales this weekend to the Ada Jenkins Center. Additionally, shoppers can add to Barbee’s generosity by making an additional donation when checking out –– supporting an organization that does so much for Davidson and the surrounding communities.

This is what makes DFM so great; the people, helping one another.

Thank you to everyone that supported DFM this month, by voting for our Christmas Tree (most funds raised) or purchasing this year’s holiday ornament (sold out!). This week we will have two types of apples, Winecrisp and Arkansas Black (limited quantity, please shop early before they sell out). Additionally, we will also have DFM merchandise perfect for gifts.

Thank you, again, for a successful year! I hope you all have a wonderful holiday and a happy new year. I look forward to seeing everyone in 2021 when DFM’s Winter Market starts Saturday, January 9, 9:00 AM – Noon.

Happy eating,

Justin
