Wildcat Wrestling 100th Year Schedule is Set
DAVIDSON, N.C. – Head wrestling coach Andy Lausier has announced the 2021 slate, a schedule that will rotate tri-meets with the programs of the Southern Conference beginning on Jan. 17.
“This will be a season unlike any other, but we are ready and eager for any challenge. We will be grateful for every opportunity to compete and I’m excited to see our ‘Cats continue leading this program to new territory,” said Lausier.
The first of four regular season dates take the ‘Cats to the site of the 2021 SoCon Championship, Boone, N.C., to face off against the host Appalachian State Mountaineers and league newcomers, Bellarmine.
Davidson hosts it’s only meet of the year on Saturday, Jan. 23 when VMI and Chattanooga visit Belk Arena.
The Wildcats next head to Charleston, S.C., to grapple against The Citadel and Campbell. The regular season wraps up with a trip to Presbyterian to face the Blue Hose and Gardner-Webb.
The SoCon Championship was moved up to Feb. 28 to give program’s time in between that and the NCAA Championship, set to take place Mar. 18-20 in St. Louis.
“Our team philosophy is that we can turn any perceived difficulty into our advantage, and our wrestlers have been incredibly resilient in their quest to return to the mat. I am already more proud of them than words can express.”
