Women’s Tennis Drops Match to UNCC
CHARLOTTE, NC — Looking to build off of last weekend’s success, the Davidson Wildcats traveled to regional rival UNC Charlotte this afternoon, but ultimately fell 6-1 to the 49ers.
Mira Gladstone highlighted the day, picking up her second straight singles win, and first of the season from the No. 3 court. The Florida native fell 6-2 in set one, but bounced back and had built a steady 3-0 lead in the second. Charlotte’s Maquet eventually retired the remainder of the match against Gladstone, securing the Wildcats’ lone win of the day.
Nicole Krykanov had another strong battle from the second singles court, falling behind 6-3 in set one and forcing a 7-5 second set result. Senior Alyssa Hahn made her season singles debut, taking on Charlotte’s Scott from No. 6, falling 6-2 in back-to-back battles.
Davidson’s doubles teams fell in three straight sets, by 6-3, 6-2 and 6-1 scores.
The Wildcats will return to action next Saturday, Feb. 13 for a 9 a.m. start time against Liberty University.
