DAVIDSON, N.C. – Liberty made the most of its only shot attempt as the Flames edged Davidson, 1-0, in non-conference men’s soccer action Wednesday evening at Alumni Stadium.

With the win, Liberty moves to 2-0-0 on the young season, while the Wildcats open 0-1-0.

Musa Morris’ header off a Seth Clark corner in the 15th minute held despite the ‘Cats finishing with an 8-1 advantage in shots.

Playing its first contest in 15 months, Davidson had a chance to send the game into overtime with one second remaining, but Hugh Chatham’s low blast caromed off the right post as time expired.

The ‘Cats had a pair of scoring opportunities in the opening half on consecutive attempts from Jack Wilson and Quinn Dudek following a corner with eight minutes left. Wilson’s strike was blocked by a Flame defender, while Dudek’s shot off the rebound sailed high.

Liberty held a 4-2 margin in corner kicks and the Flames’ Danny Cordero recorded the game’s only two saves.
