Men’s Golf Wraps Up 2021 Spring Opener

MOBILE, Ala. – After nearly a year away from tournament action, the Davidson golf team concluded their spring opener Tuesday afternoon at the 2021 Mobile Bay Collegiate on Magnolia Grove Golf Course.

A native of Raleigh, Viraj Garewal (71-73-71) paced the ‘Cats with a Top-25 finish as the junior finished the annual event T-21st at 1-under 215.

The Wildcats, who entered the final round in a tie for sixth at 5-under par, recorded a 300 Tuesday to finish the three-day event ninth out of 15 teams.

Illinois (-37), which led wire-to-wire, captured the team title by 17 strokes. In addition, the Illini’s Michael Feagles (-16) also held the top spot from start to finish claiming individual medalist over teammates Jerry Ji (-8) and Tommy Kuhl (-7).

The 15-team/54-hole event hosted by South Alabama, also featured UAB, Indiana, Texas State, Illinois State, Toledo, Kansas State, Kent State, Lipscomb, Southern Miss, Western Kentucky and Michigan.

Next Tournament
Davidson will enjoy a two-week break before heading to Historic Pinehurst No. 2 for the Wake Forest Invitational March 1-2.
