Celebrating Six Years at Main Street Books
I feel like I have lived a thousand lives since 2015 when my mother and I purchased Main Street Books from Betty Reinke and Barbara Freund. My first career was laser-focused on educating lifelong learners for a global, diverse society. That mission gave me the chutzpah to think that I could learn the book industry quickly enough to take over this establishment and have it under my leadership in less than three month’s time.
Here we are. Six years later and the ship is still sailing. I’ve learned 90% of this job the hard way. Most of the bad decisions I’ve made were the result of sleep deprivation and the good ones in spite of it. When I’m asked my favorite part of the job, my answer is always my people, who have pushed me to grow.
To celebrate our Sixth on the Sixth, we’re sharing 6% of our proceeds from March 6th, 2021 with Ada Jenkins Center who has been a tremendous partner for us and resource for our community, especially this last year. The bookstore is open to the public now, so come check out our birthday window display, buy some books, and support the community.
