Advisory: Rep. Adams Announces Deadline for the 2021 Congressional Art Competition

Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) is honored to sponsor the Congressional Art Competition, which is open to Charlotte-Mecklenburg high school students who reside in and/or attend school in the 12th Congressional District. Students can enter the competition here; submissions are due by April 16.

“As a 40-year art educator, I am happy to announce that my office is now accepting submissions for the 2021 Congressional Art Competition from high school students who live in or attend school in North Carolina’s 12th Congressional District,” said Congresswoman Adams. “From Romare Bearden of Charlotte to Herb Jackson of Davidson and many others, the 12th District has a lot of artistic talent. I can’t wait to see what you create, but don’t forget – the deadline is April 16!”

Students are encouraged to submit their best artwork. The winner from the 12th Congressional District will have their art displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one full year alongside the winning pieces from Congressional districts across the country. In addition, the winner will also receive two round-trip tickets to Washington, D.C. to attend the annual awards ceremony.

Congresswoman Alma S. Adams, Ph.D. is serving her fourth full term in Congress. She represents the 12th District of North Carolina, which includes parts of Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville, Matthews, Mint Hill, and Pineville. She is the only art professor in the United States Congress.
