ReadDavidson Invites Community to Register for Virtual April Author Talks

by | Apr 5, 2021

ReadDavidson, a partnership between the Town of Davidson, the Davidson Public Library, Main Street Books, and local avid readers, recently concluded its three part “Davidson Discusses” series for Caste: The Origin of Our Discontents by Isabel Wilkerson. Participants were able to listen to and engage with a variety of panelists as well as break into small groups to meet each other and talk about the book, especially how it relates to their experiences in Davidson and beyond. For those who missed these virtual events and are interested, you can watch videos of the sessions here.

The ReadDavidson committee invites those interested to join them on Zoom for the three virtual author talks listed below. Registration is now open.

Saturday, April 17 at 4:00 p.m.: Genesis Begins Again by Alicia D. Williams (Middle Grades Fiction)

Thursday, April 22 at 7:00 p.m.: Legendborn by Tracy Deonn (Young Adult Fiction)

Saturday, April 24 at 11:00 a.m.: The Power of One by Trudy Ludwig, illustrated by Mike Curato

“We were so pleased with the turn-out for the Caste discussions and hope that these next three books will draw as many interested participants,” says Davidson Library Branch Leader Marie Harris. “By selecting three additional books to appeal to a wider range of readers, we hope to have teens, middle-schoolers, and even preschoolers join in our community wide conversation.”

Don’t forget that to ensure that everyone in our community can be involved in the conversation, ReadDavidson has a Book Grant Program to provide any and all titles for free to any interested reader. To sign up, visit www.townofdavidson.org/dpr.
