Hello DFM Shoppers,

DFM’s prime market season is in full swing! With 36 vendors, the variety of foods and goods is vibrant as well as the operations of these local, small businesses. Its a sight to see and a testament to the fervor our surrounding area has for local, North Carolina products.

If you attended or missed last week’s market, I want to remind everyone about our temporary layout during construction on the new gathering space behind Summit Coffee. Here are a few things to know to make your shopping experience the fullest:

You can enter the market from multiple locations (there is not a designated entrance or exit to the market);

There are three rows of vendors: two in the Jackson Street parking lot and one in the grassy area next to Davidson Family Medicine;

You can access the third row from Jackson Street with our designated cut through and re-enter Jackson Street at the top near DFM’s shed and market tent;

If you’re looking for a specific vendor and can’t find them, you can ask one of our Green Team Volunteers (the folks in green shirts) or stop by DFM’s tent; and

Market hours are 9am – Noon.

Speaking of volunteers. It takes a lot of dedicated volunteers to help setup and takedown the farmers market every weekend. Their generous help is tremendous and Courtney and I are so grateful to work with such kind and fun people. Don’t miss these items available at market:

Barbee Farms will have cole crop starter plants​ (broccoli, kale, cabbage, and collard) as well as rosemary plants; Gilcrest Natural Farm has beef products including ground beef, stir fry strips, stew beef, short ribs, and chorizo; Nonni’s Gourmet Kitchen has milk chocolate or white chocolate eggs filled with 4nut nutty brittle boxed with chocolate ducks, little eggs, bunnies, lambs and carrots for the Easter holidays and Spring treats; and Toro Loco Party Salsa has medium and mild salsa and mango salsa.

If you choose pre-order and do not plan to shop in-person, you can skip the line and pick up your pre-order from the Market Tent (the red tent to the right of the Market entrance). Just give your name and who you pre-ordered from and our DFM volunteers will get your order for you.

Barbee Farms – A variety of fresh produce

Available this week: Asparagus! Red and green leaf lettuce from our fields will be in abundance. We will have a limited amount of cucumbers from the greenhouse for the early risers. Also attainable from our market site: spinach, carrots, green onions, green garlic (immature garlic with a milder flavor), Swiss chard, kale, and sweet potatoes. Don’t forget to pick up some farm fresh eggs!

To Know: At our Davidson Market vending site, customers will be able to choose their own produce after proper hand sanitization. We will not be offering online ordering this weekend for Davidson market pick up but will have staff available to assist you with your shopping if requested.
