Town Kicks Off Earth Day Celebration With Pollinator Exhibit: Saturday, April 24

by | Apr 19, 2021

What’s all the buzz about Earth Day?

Earth Day is celebrated annually around the world on April 22. The Town of Davidson invites the community to enjoy Earth Day with an exciting Bee-Hold the Humble Pollinator exhibit. It will be open to the public Saturday, April 24 through Wednesday, May 5 at the Davidson Parks and Recreation office, 865 South Street in Davidson. Stop by to view the exhibit Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Saturday, April 24 and May 1 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Face coverings are required. The exhibit is free, and drop-ins are welcome, though preregistration is encouraged for Saturday, April 24 and Saturday, May 1.  You can register at: www.townofdavidson.org/earthday.

Happy pollinating.

“We appreciate the North Carolina Botanical Garden for partnering with us to offer this exhibit in Davidson,” said Charlene Minor, Natural Assets and Sustainability Coordinator. “This is a great opportunity to explore the diversity and ecology of bees, the pollination services they provide, the threats they face, and ways that people can help support them.”

On Saturday, April 24, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., other outdoor activities will be available in addition to the Bee-Hold the Humble Pollinator exhibit:

  • Make a bee hotel with the Girl Scouts
  • Go on a Davidson Land Conservancy World of Wonder scavenger hunt
  • Speak with Better Tomorrow Solar for a solar power Q & A
  • Cook with the sun solar oven demonstration
  • See the Davidson Parks and Recreation solar-electric E.L.F. bike
