This Week at DFM: April 24

by | Apr 22, 2021

Head on over to the Farmers Market! Rain or Shine.

Hello DFM Shoppers,

If you check the weather as much as I do, then you know that this Saturday is predicted to be a rainy one. DFM is a rain or shine market. We only close the market down when the weather becomes too dangerous (lightning, gale force winds, tornadoes). Please come prepared and enjoy the beautiful offerings our vendors have this week. Our vendors, volunteers, and staff will be there ready to welcome you and assist anyone that might need help!

Construction is planned to be completed at the end of this month, which means Saturday, May 1 will be our first market with our new and permanent layout. We are SO excited about this as it offers more space for regular DFM programming that we’ve missed out on for over a year. Additionally, it improves shopper and vendor experience and provides the market with new possibilities. It’s an exciting time and we’re eager to return to business as usual with improved amenities.

While we haven’t had our Covid-19 layout for almost a month, there are some guidelines that we are returning to; pre-pandemic. The most important one is that shopping at the market starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 12 p.m. Since we’re an open-air market, we alert shoppers and vendors of the opening and closing time of the market by ringing the market bell, usually with the help from one of our little shoppers!

Please remember that no shopping or transactions can occur prior to the ringing of the bell. Shoppers are more than welcome to line up at a preferred vendor and wait for the bell to ring. The reason we follow this guideline is because vendors, staff, and volunteers are still working to setup (moving of tents, tables, and cars entering to drop-off product). This is a guideline to protect everyone and continues to keep the market a safe place.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the market this Saturday!

Happy eating,

Justin

Market Hours & Info

Prime Market hours are 9:00am – Noon, EVERY Saturday, located behind Summit Coffee on Main Street in the Jackson Street parking lot and surrounding area.

With construction happening around The Davidson Farmers Market, we have removed the barriers, entrance, and two exits to allow more space for social distancing while shopping. We kindly ask that shoppers wait until the market opens at 9 a.m. before entering and shopping (listen for the bell). Vendors will not sell to shoppers prior to 9 a.m.

IMPORTANT 2021 DATES:

  • Prime Market Season April 3 – November 20
  • Holiday Markets December 11 & 18

To enter the market, shoppers must wear a mask. If any condition prevents you from wearing a mask, our volunteers will gladly serve as your personal shopper – just meet us at the red Market Tent and give us a list, and we will enter the market for you.

All vendors, staff, and volunteers will wear masks and have hand sanitizer accessible. In addition, there will be two hand sanitizer stations in the greenspace outside of the market boundaries for shoppers to use (provided by the Town of Davidson).

Don’t miss these items available at market:

Barbee Farms has strawberries, asparagus, and green garlic; Flying Fish Seafood has flounder and shrimp; Butter Crust Bakery has whole wheat croissants, strawberry buns, and UBE (purple potato) danishes; and Mood Indigo is celebrating Earth Day with a butter + scrub special. Plus the first 10 shoppers get a free bag of their popular loo bombs!

Vendors away this week:  Updog Kombucha, How Sweet It Is!, Batistini Farm, A Bright Moment, Bleu Barn Bistro, Nutty B’s, Liberty Farm & Creamery, Sun Raised Foods (salami truck)

If you choose pre-order and do not plan to shop in-person, you can skip the line  and pick up your pre-order from the red Market Tent. Just give your name and who you pre-ordered from and our DFM volunteers will get your order for you.
