Crafting is more fun with other people, which is why we created the “Secret” Society of Crafters. The title says “secret,” but we’re a not-so-secret, not-so-exclusive group who meets to stitch, craft, crochet, knit, sit and talk. We may or may not talk about knitting, yarn bombing, hand dying, or the latest stitch. We may even talk about world domination. You won’t know unless you come. Connect with crafters in the area, find the motivation to pick up that project again, and benefit from the wisdom of a passionate crafting group. The “Secret” Society of Crafters meets outside the store every Wednesday and Sunday at 10:00 AM weather permitting. We hope to see you there!

April 26 @ 2:00 p.m.

Brandon Harris ’22 will present work from his independent study with journalist and James K. Batten Professor of Public Policy, Issac Bailey ’95. Brandon’s research focuses on the story of Brandon’s childhood friend, Sura Sohna. Brandon and Sura attended school together in Annapolis, Maryland, but their lives took very different paths. Brandon’s access to support and opportunity made it possible for him to attend Davidson after completing high school; Sura lacked access to support and opportunity and is currently incarcerated in Maryland. During this public presentation, Brandon will tell Sura’s story, delving into circumstances that influenced his former classmate’s decisions. He’ll also discuss what it feels like to be a Black student at Davidson juggling dual racial realities.
