Secret Society of Crafters – Hearts on Fiber

May 30 @ 10:00 a.m.

208 South Main Street

Crafting is more fun with other people, which is why we created the “Secret” Society of Crafters. The title says “secret,” but we’re a not-so-secret, not-so-exclusive group who meets to stitch, craft, crochet, knit, sit and talk. We may or may not talk about knitting, yarn bombing, hand dying, or the latest stitch. We may even talk about world domination. You won’t know unless you come. Connect with crafters in the area, find the motivation to pick up that project again, and benefit from the wisdom of a passionate crafting group. The “Secret” Society of Crafters meets outside the store every Wednesday and Sunday at 10:00 AM weather permitting. We hope to see you there!

Monday – May 31 – Memorial Day

Memorial Day – Town Offices Closed

Please take the time to drive by 1, 2, or all 3 of our town cemeteries to see the flags that have been placed on the graves of Davidson Veterans. The Christian Aid Society Cemetery is located on the Davidson College campus at the end of Ridge Road, the Davidson College Cemetery is located on N. Main Street. Mimosa Cemetery (the town cemetery) is located on South Street.

Memorial Day Event

May 31 @ 2:45 p.m.

Davidson College War Memorial

This small informal gathering will recognize those who gave the last full measure of devotion in service to our country.  “Taps” will be played by Ben Mitchell. Following the conclusion of the event, the 193 flags that have been placed around the memorial will be picked up.

Trivia Night at Summit

June 3 @ 7 p.m. –

We’re so excited to have in-person trivia back again! In order to host trivia safely, we are going to have y’all sign up on this form so we can set up tables + chairs appropriately distanced from other teams. Here’s the deal:
1. You must register in advance, otherwise we can’t guarantee your team a seat.
2. Maximum of 6 people allowed on a team
3. We will have a maximum of 14 teams for the evening.
4. We will offer table service, so you don’t have to go inside. You are welcome to place orders inside as well, but we’re adding the option to limit the amount of contact/movement you have to make.
5. Honor system for scoring – meaning you will score your own sheets so there isn’t a transfer of paper/germs from table-to-table.
6. Trivia will start at 7pm!
Please email [email protected] with any questions!!

Sullivan Fortner with the Jazz Ensemble

June 3 @ 7:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

The Davidson College Jazz Ensemble, in concert with Sullivan Fortner

In its second Guest Artist residency of the spring semester, the Davidson College Jazz Ensemble had the honor of welcoming pianist Sullivan Fortner. Mr. Fortner, a native of New Orleans now living in New York, has risen to the top of the new generation of jazz pianists. The concert is a wonderful feature of the music of some of the master big band compositions and arrangements, including Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Thelonious Monk, Charles Mingus, Oliver Nelson, and Herbie Hancock, along with a magical solo rendition of a Sonny Rollins favorite.

Join us for this spectacular virtual concert on our Facebook and YouTube pages!
