Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization Begins Public Comment Period

by | Jun 22, 2021

The Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization (CRTPO) invites Davidson residents to participate in a public comment period for the 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) Draft Fiscally Constrained Project List. The comment period is open now and will close on Wednesday, July 14, 2021.

At its June 16 board meeting, CRTPO released the draft project list, which can be found here. To participate in offering feedback, go here.

The MTP is a fiscally constrained plan that spans a minimum 20-year horizon. The Federal Highway Administration requires the CRTPO to update its MTP every four years to define the plans, programs and policies to provide mobility choices throughout the region. The MTP identifies recommendations for surface transportation including streets and roads; transit; and bicycle and pedestrian facilities. Projects approved for inclusion in the 2050 MTP must demonstrate that they can be implemented using committed or anticipated revenues.

The project list is an important component of the Plan as it outlines the transportation projects proposed to be funded over the life of the MTP. The active transportation component of the MTP identifies corridors that may benefit from future bicycle/pedestrian projects. This process does not prioritize or commit funding to the active transportation corridors. Approval of the 2050 MTP is scheduled for March 2022.
