News of Davidson: For Free
No beating around the tomato bush, friends, we are here to remind you that News of Davidson is an all-volunteer, nonprofit service for the community. Our beat is the Davidson and Lake Norman area, and we love to tell the stories of our neighbors and friends, their businesses and organizations, houses of worship, and community involvement.
We have a positive bent because we love this place. We look for good news and bright ideas. Our two gifted and energetic photographers stay out and about to capture the activity of our town, and you can browse our News of Davidson photo library and download any you like—for free. We have writers, reporters, and columnists who provide content that ranges from poetry to advice for pet owners, and everything in between. And we support our area nonprofits with stories and information.
Of course, News of Davidson is not free. Our small budget of $5,000 per year covers the costs of online publication, web services, and so forth. Honest, no banquets or bonuses for this crew! We raised $6,000 in 2020, but we find ourselves behind this year, lagging at a total of $900, worrisomely outpaced by expenses.
Thank you to our donors who have made gifts thus far! Please join them if you can, with a gift of any size. Let’s see if we can get hit $2,500 by July 31.
