Daughters and Burkholder Earn A-10 Recognition
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – A pair of women’s track and field scholar-athletes earned Atlantic 10 postseason honors, announced by the league Tuesday.
Eleni Daughters was named to her third Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team, while Megan Burkholder vaulted onto the All-Rookie Team.
Daughters, a 2021 Davidson graduate who earned her degree in biology, made the grade for the third consecutive season. The Pasadena, Calif., product placed fifth at the A-10 Outdoor Championship in the 800-meter run and ran a leg of the silver medal winning 4×800-meter relay team.
Daughters, the 2020 A-10 Indoor 1000-meter champion, has cemented herself in the record books, leaving campus with a hand in four program records including three individual marks.
Burkholder stepped onto the podium and earned a spot on the All-Rookie Team after clearing 3.71-meters (12’2) at the A-10 Championship. The Davidson record holder steadily improved over the season and became the first Wildcat woman to break 12-feet.
The A-10 All-Academic Team is voted on by the Sports Information Directors of the league. Eligible nominees must have completed a year of school and have maintained a GPA over 3.0. The All-Rookie Team is comprised of the top rookie (freshman or sophomore in 2021 due to the cancelation of the 2020 campaign) in each event.
