This Week at DFM: July 17
Hello DFM Shoppers,
If you saw our email earlier this week, then you know how much DFM has grown in the past year! Before the pandemic we averaged 600 shoppers per Saturday. Now, we average 1800 shoppers! The growth is incredible and we are delighted to serve and welcome so many community members (Davidson and surrounding.)
With this growth means DFM needs to adjust and accommodate so the market continues to be a safe, healthy, welcoming, and thriving market for everyone. In the weeks to come, expect to see a few changes (mostly a more spread out market.) Until then –– while we adjust and get things in place –– we will keep the market area in the Jackson Street parking lot closed until we open at 9am. This is to ensure our vendors can arrive and setup without concern of a crowded area AND to keep our shoppers, staff, and volunteers safe while vendor cars and trucks are moving and being unloaded. If you arrive before 9am, please visit Summit Coffee and grab a drink and wait in the new gathering area around the market.
In addition to our growth, we’re excited to bring back DFM events and educational programs. We plan to kickoff these on September 4, but to do so we need to raise $15,000. During the pandemic we paused our events and programs and redistributed funds to keep our vendors and market going. With your help, we can bring back children and youth programs, chef demos and shopper cooking competitions, and launch new partnerships to increase health and wellness events. A gift of $25 today will help bring DFM back fully to continue serving our wonderful community!
This week, we continue to see lots of summer items showing up! Don’t miss on melons, corn, and field-grown tomatoes!
