The sign at the entrance to the Town Dog Park lists a number of rules and regulations. It’s a good idea to familiarize yourself with them before taking your dog inside the fenced park.

Most dog owners can tell you about the time they had a bad experience with another dog. To be sure, many dog owners will point the first finger at the dog owner. No matter who is to blame, owner or dog, incidents involving an aggressive dog can be scary for pets and humans.

What many people don’t realize is that they should report the incident. Your News of Davidson team reached out to the Town for comment.

“Anyone who experiences a situation where they felt threatened, either from a dog or a person, should immediately call 911. The Davidson Police Department encourages anyone that witnesses an aggressive dog attack to contact 911 so officers can respond to address any safety concerns or injuries.”

So while you might be inclined to dismiss an incident, please don’t. You never know if reporting it could prevent something worse from happening to a pet or a human.

And while the subject of this article is aggressive canines, let’s not forget that the vast majority of our canine friends are not aggressive. Woof!
