Hello DFM Shoppers,

I can’t believe this is the last weekend in August! But I’m very excited to start preparing for the fall season. Though we’re still a few weeks away from it officially being fall, we are seeing early signs of fall produce and products showing up at the market.

Spaghetti, acorn, and butternut squash are showing up as well as fall flavor baked goods like sweet potato danishes and soon-to-come pumpkin bear claws. Of course, there are the items that have always been available, but with cooler weather approaching make sure to grab a few proteins for stews and soups.

I want to thank everyone for the kind words sent to me after last week’s announcement. I certainly felt the love and though I’m excited for the future, leaving DFM is still hard. Luckily, I still have a few months to enjoy the market and see everyone before I move.

We’re still accepting applications for the Market Director and can find the job description here. Also, keep an eye during the first full week of September for 2022 DFM Vendor Applications.

We’ve been gearing up to bring back DFM events and programs in the fall. To do this, we’ve been working to raise $15,000. Last week, we were offered a generous challenge from a Davidson resident willing to match up to $5,000 to meet our goal!

We are so close to meeting this challenge, only $1,000 away from goal! Help us meet our goal with a donation today!  With your help, we can bring back children and youth programs, chef demos and shopper cooking competitions, and launch new partnerships to increase health and wellness events.

Happy Eating,

Justin
