Davis Named Volleyball Assistant Coach
DAVIDSON, N.C. — Danielle (Dee) Davis has been named assistant coach/recruiting coordinator of the Davidson volleyball program, head coach Chris Willis announced Wednesday.
A native to Bloomington, Ill., Davis played collegiately at the University of Illinois where she was a four-year starter for the Fighting Illini and a three-time Big Ten All-Academic Team selection. She joins the Wildcats after serving in a variety of roles across intercollegiate athletics and professional sports, ranging from media relations to strength and conditioning and coaching. Most recently, Davis was an assistant at Stanford University where she focused on serving coordination and first contact position training with the Cardinal.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome Dee Davis to our Davidson family,” Willis said. “She comes recommended by some of the best volleyball leaders in the country. In our short time of getting to know her, she continues to exceed those expectations. I’m excited for her to work with our primary passers and defense. She has a background of competing in the Big Ten and working with scholar-athletes at the highest level. Beyond that, she will add to the culture of Davidson College in assisting our students to develop humane instincts as well as disciplined and creative minds for lives of leadership and service.”
In the last year Davis also spent time with the Dallas Arsenal Volleyball Club as the Director of Recruitment, Athlete Empowerment and Sport Performance, helping high school athletes navigate the college recruiting process.
“I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the Davidson volleyball program,” Davis said. “The mission of Davidson Athletics is a mission I fully align with and believe to be transformational in the college athletics space. I am very excited to continue learning and growing under Coach Willis’ leadership. His invaluable experience, knowledge and character creates an environment I am blessed to become a part of. It is an indescribable feeling becoming a member of this special Wildcat family.”
Davis, a 2016 graduate of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology, also earned a Masters of Sport Administration and Business Administration in 2019 from Ohio University.
