Field Hockey Matches Season-High Three Goals in Loss

BOONE — The Davidson field hockey team matched its season-high of three goals, but it wasn’t enough in a 6-3 loss at Appalachian State Sunday afternoon.

The Wildcats, who also scored three goals in a loss at Hofstra and in a home win over Bellarmine, are now 2-5.

Natalie Naticchia and Anna Sharp scored their team-leading third goals of the season. Naticchia’s came at the 9:49 mark and tied the game at 1-1. Sharp’s goal came in the final minute, with App leading 6-2.

Davidson’s other goal came from Izzy Moody, who tied the game at 2-2, 1:33 into the second quarter. It’s her second goal of the season.

Cato Roell recorded a personal-best 10 saves.
