Don’t Miss the Virtual Candidate Events
This year, residents of Davidson will be going to the polls for the town’s municipal election. While all the candidates are up for election every two years, this year three incumbent Commissioners are not running for re-election. There are eight candidates running for the five positions on the Town Board. Incumbent Mayor Rusty Knox is running unopposed.
Several organizations in Town are conducting events to give residents a chance to get to know the candidates – especially the six candidates who are new to the campaign process.
The first two candidate forums are this week:
Davidson Learns – Wednesday night at 7 p.m. This event will be held via Zoom and will be moderated by Dr. Susan Roberts.
206 Democrats – Thursday night at 7 p.m. This event will also be held via Zoom. Volunteers have been distributing flyers and information cards about the event, and organizers are preparing for hundreds of virtual attendees. More information can be found on their website.

(of note, it appears that this event will only be streamed via Facebook)
For our readers who are residents at The Pines – there will be a virtual event on October 20th.
Early voting at the Davidson Library – a NEW polling location – opens at 10 a.m. on October 21.
The final candidate event is slated for October 27 and is sponsored by the River Run property owners association. While their in-person events in the past have been open to the general public, as of this writing – it is not clear if this virtual event will be open.
