Men’s Soccer Concludes Regular Season with 1-0 Win at Presbyterian

CLINTON, S.C. – Senior Benjamin Gilligan scored early in the second half to lift Davidson to a 1-0 blanking of Presbyterian in non-conference men’s soccer action Tuesday evening inside Martin Stadium.

With their second straight shutout, the ‘Cats conclude the regular season 9-6-2 overall, while the Blue Hose fall to 6-5-2 with two games remaining.

Playing just over an hour from his hometown of Aiken, S.C., Gilligan’s eventual game-winner came off a low left-footed strike at the 53:43 mark. His second score in a Wildcat uniform since transferring from South Carolina was set up by Connor Smith.

Both keepers finished with a pair of saves.

Senior Lucas Hauth paced the Wildcats with two shots.

On a bye this weekend, Davidson is currently seventh in the Atlantic 10 standings. The Top-8 teams will advance to the conference tournament, which gets underway Nov. 6.
