COVID Protocols

A message from the Davidson College Music Department:

We are less than a week away from our Christmas Vespers: A Service of Lessons and Carols! This is such a welcomed tradition for the start of the holidays and it is extra special this year since we had to cancel in 2020. This year, the Davidson College Music Department will be strictly enforcing a vaccine and mask mandate. All who enter the service must provide proof of vaccination or a negative Covid-19 test within the stipulated timeline (see full policy below). In addition, masks must be worn at all times and cover the mouth and nose. There will be ushers walking through enforcing this policy during the service. With the recent announcement of the Omicron variant in addition to the Delta variant, is it vital that we take all necessary precautions to protect our wonderful community. Please carefully read the policy in full below and if you have any questions, please contact Eric Keith, the Director of Music Production and Promotion, at [email protected]. Thank you for your efforts to keep live music happening!

Policy Requiring Proof of Vaccination Or Negative COVID Test

Because of the continuing high number of cases of COVID-19 caused by the Delta variant, and with the goal of providing the safest possible conditions for performing and enjoying live music, the Davidson College Music Department has updated its policy for attendance to require proof of vaccination or negative COVID test for indoor public events starting on October 15, 2021.

As Davidson College students, faculty, and staff are already required to be vaccinated, those individuals will only be asked to show their CatCard as proof of vaccination. For guests to our events coming from outside the college community, it is now mandatory to provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test to attend any indoor event sponsored by the Davidson College Music Department.

If you are over the age of five and eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine, you will be asked to provide digital or printed documentation showing that you are fully vaccinated along with a matching photo ID. Please have these items ready along with your ticket to the event. To be fully vaccinated, you must have received the final dose of an FDA or WHO authorized COVID-19 vaccine at least two weeks prior to the event.

Those unable to be vaccinated because of age or medical or religious reasons may provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test in addition to a photo ID. For minors who may not have a photo ID, a parent’s or guardian’s ID will suffice. The test result must be within 72 hours of a PCR test or 24 hours of a rapid test and must show the date and time of the test.

Face masks will still be required at all times when indoors and they must be properly worn by all attendees over the age of two.

All COVID-19 pandemic policies are subject to revision and we look forward to the time when these policies may be reduced or removed altogether. Please refer to our website at www.davidson.edu/music/covid for the most up-to-date information. If you are experiencing CDC-recognized COVID-19 symptoms, have been diagnosed with COVID-19 within the past two weeks, or have had close contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19, we ask that you please refrain from attending our events.
