Christmas in Davidson Continues Through Saturday

by | Dec 2, 2021

The Christmas tree village is sponsored by the Davidson Rotary Club. The trees have been decorated to highlight local organizations. Guests buy tickets and vote for their favorite tree. The donations go the nonprofit featured on the tree.

Christmas in Davidson, one of the Town of Davidson’s signature events, continues Friday and Saturday 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. each night. All events will be held outside, and COVID-19 protocols will remain in effect.

Last night Santa Claus arrived at the town green, and the Christmas tree was illuminated.

Highlights for Friday and Saturday include:

  • a video and light show on downtown buildings
  • strolling characters and other live entertainment
  • bubble snowflakes and real snow making
  • an artist village
  • a children’s craft area

Guests can expect to find unique gifts at many specialty shops and a wide variety of food by Davidson’s local restaurants.

The Doggie Fashion Show will be held Friday, December 3, at 7:00 p.m. on the Davidson Public Library stage. Participants can register by clicking here.

The Ugly Holiday Sweater Contest will be held Saturday, December 4, at 7:00 p.m. on the Davidson Public Library stage. No registration is required – simply show up in your festive sweater!

Please note that trolley service will not be available this year due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The town is excitedly anticipating this event but does caution residents and visitors to be observant of all COVID-19 guidelines, especially the 3 Ws- wear a mask, wait 6 feet apart, and wash your hands frequently.   Additional event COVID-19 guidelines can be found here.

New this year will be a Merry Main Street Tricycle Race that will take place Saturday, December 4, at 3:00 p.m., after the conclusion of the holiday parade. Come watch four-person trike teams sponsored by Davidson businesses race through an obstacle course down Main Street.

Street Closures

Each evening at 5:00 p.m., Main Street from Concord Road to Jackson Street will be closed to traffic so that the community can enjoy walking to all of the shops, restaurants, and activities. Accessible parking will be available in the library parking lot along Lorimer Road, and an attendant will be present to allow drivers access.
