Wrestling Drops Match Against George Mason

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson wrestling fell to A10 foe George Mason in a close battle. The Wildcats fall to 0-5 on the season while the Patriots improve to 5-3.

The ‘Cats won five of 10 duals, but started down 6-0 after forfeiting the 125-lb. bout. Kyle Gorant earned three points, giving the Wildcats their first win of the night in the 133-pound dual with two takedowns and an 8-4 decision over Michael Rapuano. Bryce Sanderlin earned a hard-fought 3-1 decision over his opponent from George Mason, giving Davidson 6 total points through five duals, but Davidson trailed 17-6 halfway through the match.

Gavin Henry gave Davidson a spark, pinning his opponent in 40 seconds, and was the first of three straight Wildcat victories. Finlay Holston followed his teammate with a decision over his opponent in the 197-lb. weight class and heavyweight Mitchell Trigg earned a 5-1 decision to close out the night.

Jake Fernicola won the extra match on Sunday night with a 7-3 decision over his opponent.
