Areas of Town Without Power Most of Monday

by | Jan 4, 2022

This was the Duke Energy map as of 7:30 p.m. Monday evening. It showed that 519 homes were still without power.

Due to severe storms Sunday night, several areas of town lost power, and there were still some outages within Davidson on Monday evening. Specifically, there were two major outages: one off Concord Road and the other in the vicinity of S. Main Street. The Town of Davidson and Mecklenburg County Emergency Management monitored the situation and worked directly with Duke Energy to try to expedite repairs.

This was just one of the downed trees along Concord Road, and still blocks the sidewalk as of Tuesday.

Throughout the day on Monday, residents across Davidson continued to seek updates from Duke Energy. Power went out shortly before 6 a.m., and visible downed trees across power lines were blamed for the outage near Concord Road. For a while, the estimated time for restoration was listed as Tuesday, January 4 at 7 p.m., but thankfully repairs were completed later Monday evening. With temperatures dipping into the 20s on Monday night, the restoration of power was welcomed by residents impacted by the extended outage.

The Town had released a statement late Monday afternoon asking residents to be mindful that outdoor heaters should not be brought indoors if it is not safe to do so. Please be considerate to your neighbors and consider checking on those who do not have power. Emergency services remain available by calling 911 directly.
